DIRECTIONS BY CAR |
Ruishton is a village outside Taunton, situated immediately to the east of Junction 25 of the M5, so travelling by car is by far the easiest method of getting there. There is a Holiday Inn, a Holiday Inn Express, and a Travelodge nearby, and also three Premier Inn hotels, as indicated on the area map. Exit the roundabout at Junction 25 eastwards onto the A358 signposted Yeovil. In 0.2 miles, after passing the Blackbrook Tavern on the left, turn left at the Premier Inn into Ruishton Lane. In 0.3 miles, after entering the village with Orchard Rise on the left, you will see a 'Give Way' sign before reaching the Ruishton Inn. The Inn is on a junction, with Bushy Cross Lane as a major road from the right and Church Lane as a no through road on the left. The signpost for Ruishton Village Hall points across the junction where the main road continues as Cheats Road, and the Hall is a further 0.1 miles on the left (after the road bends first to the right and then to the left). There is a signpost at the entrance to the car park, which is shown in the photo at the top of this page. |

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN |
Taunton Rail Station is on the London to Penzance Line and the Cross-Country Route. It is served and operated by First Great Western and also served by CrossCountry, with services to Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, London, Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance, as well as the rest of the West Country. There is generally one fast train and one slow train each hour to both Bristol Temple Meads and to Exeter St Davids and one train to London Paddington. FirstGroup bus services 1 and 1A call at the North Side of the Rail Station every 15 minutes, and the journey for the connecting service to Ruishton at Stop 1 on the Parade (see below) takes 5 minutes - on foot, the journey would take over 15 minutes. The service timetable indicates you need to catch the 9.24 am bus or earlier from the Rail Station, and should be able to return to the Rail Station Bridge stop by 5.35 pm. |

BUSES TO & FROM RUISHTON |
The service timetable indicates you need to catch the 9.35 am bus from Taunton Parade to arrive at that bus stop at 9.55 am, and that the bus to board for returning to Taunton stops at Ruishton Lawn Meadow at 5pm. You need to alight from that service at Stop 2 near the War Memorial, which is on the central roundabout in the Town Centre. |
